Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort is the most splendid fort of Rajasthan. A popular tourist place in India, the fort is situated atop a hill. One has to cross seven gates to reach the fort. The marks on the gates are the reminiscent of the wars fought by the province in its glorious history. The gates have also been named at different points in time by different kings to commemorate their victories over different dynasties. The fort complex also has several galleries and a museum to preserve the relics of the dynasty.

JaswantThada

This 19th century royal cenotaph was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in commemoration of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. JaswantThada is a white marble structure which is decorated by the genius of sculptors. The building also displays the portraits of the rulers and Maharajas of Jodhpur. The temple in the cenotaph is actually main memorial.

Ghanta Ghar

The clock tower was constructed by the Late ShriSardar Singh Ji of Jodhpur. The monument is situated in the midst of a popular shopping spot in the spot city, Sardar Market. Besides spices, the market attracts tourists interested in purchasing Rajasthani Textiles, clay figurines, miniatures, marble inlay work and jewelry.

Kayalana Lake

Kayalana Lake is an artificial lake built by Pratap Singh in 1872. Previously, the region was occupied by palaces and gardens constructed by Bhim Singh and Takhat Singh, rulers of Jodhpur. Though the lake water is a lifeline for the locales of the region around the water body, it also provides shelter to many Siberian cranes migrating the region in winters.

Balsamand Lake

Encircled by hills, this popular picnic spot will offer you a great time in the lap of nature. This one is also an artificial lake built in the mid 12th century. The rare vegetation around the lake makes the destination a favorite among the ecologists. One can also find a range of fauna in the adjoining region.

UmaidBhawan Palace

This one is the youngest Rajputanapalacebuilt by the Maharaja of Jodhpur, Umaid Singh. The palace was actually built to provide employment to the locales of Jodhpur during drought and famine. Built using the Chittar sandstone, the architecture is a perfect example of the Indo-Saracenic type. Equipped with 347 rooms, the UmaidBhawan Palace was transformed into a heritage hotel in 1977. A separate section of the mansion is operated and managed by the Taj Hotels while the other part is still resided by the Jodhpur royal family.

Air
Jodhpur is well -connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Udaipur by air. The fight services are available at least thrice a week. The airport is 5 km from the city center.
